We believe that packaging should reflect a deeper purpose beyond mere aesthetics.
In line with our ethos, we will continue to innovate with utility-driven, responsible packaging that opposes with the industry norm of excess. Every skin, bath and body product is now packaged in Vivomer,which is 100% home compostable, biodegrading within one year in a healthy home compost without leaving waste behind. Alongside this, we’ve eliminated secondary packaging on all products, expect for fragrances and candles, and our packaging now incudes QR codes for customers to track how materials can be reused, refilled or composted.
We’ve partnered with a company called Shellworks to bring this material to market for the first time. Vivomer is a biopolymer (made from plants) that is grown by microbes. When vivomer is disposed of, naturally occurring microbes in soil or marine environments see the material as food. They cover the biopolymer and start enzymatically breaking it down. This means our products will stay completely stable in sterile and semi-sterile environments without breaking down. The material will only break down when disposed of in compost, waste streams, and landfills. We can also recycle this material back into our supply chain.
Mycelium composite is a living breathing product which we can grow and turn into the packaging you find in our store. It is fully home compostable.
Sylvicta is a translucent barrier paper. The paper is certified as fully home compostable and breaks down within 4 weeks in the correct environment. It is also fully recyclable in conventional recycling streams.
